What's On - February 2025
Celebrating London's Blue Plaques, Conway Hall, London, 13th February, 7-9pm. A talk hosted by English Heritage and 5x15 - five guest speakers will speak for fifteen minutes each on a figure commemorated by a blue plaque, as well as the building which shaped their life.
The Creative Power of Heritage in Growing the Economy, Pinsent Masons, London, 25th February, 5.30-8.30pm. A seminar hosted by the British Property Federation and Historic England to discuss the relationship between heritage and the creative industries.
Gateways into Heritage: Exploring creative ways to engage young people aged 11-25 with heritage, Yorkshire Museum, 26 February, 9.30am-5pm. English Heritage and Shout Out Loud are hosting a day of talks, workshops, screenings and performances around the theme of getting young people involved in heritage.
Cambridge Heritage Research Centre 2025 Annual Heritage Lecture: Jesus College, University of Cambridge, 28th February, 6-7pm. The Cambridge Heritage Research centre is hosting Dr Aleida Assman from the Unviersity of Konstanz to speak on the intersections of social and cultural memory with heritage.
Mid Century Modern: Putting Scotland on the Map: North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, Motherwell, 31 January – 6 May 2025, Monday-Saturday, 12-4pm. The North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre is offering a free exhibition on the Scottish Mid-Century Modern movement and its international contexts. There is also a free talk on 24th April,2-3pm, for those interested in learning more about the movement.
The archaeology WWII Prisoner of War Camps in Scotland and Beyond: Boyd Orr Building, Glasgow, 20th February 2025, 7.30-9pm. The Glasgow Archeological Society hosts Dr Iain Banks of the Unviersity of Glasgow's Centre for Battlefield Archaeology.
Understanding the Early Medieval Monastery at Llantwit, 2023-24 seasons in the Globe Field: Llantonian Hall, Llantwit Major, 12th February, 7.30pm. The Llantwin Major Local History Society is hosting Dr Tim Young of the University of Cardiff to speak on the Britain's oldest centre of learning- the current church is Norman but sits on the site of a Celtic monastery thought to have been founded in 508 AD.
Lauderdale House Heritage Weekend 2025: Lauderdale House, London, 22nd February 12-5pm and 23 February, 11am to 4pm. On the 22nd, over 20 organisations including Highgate Cemetery and the Pink Plaques Project are coming together for the annual heritage fair at Lauderdale House, and on the 23rd the house is hosting a Heritage Family Fun Day.
Tales from the Great Houses of Crickhowell: National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, 19th February, 1pm. Dr Elizabeth Siberry will give a talk on the C17 estate Dan y Parc, which was demolished in the 1950s.
