SAVE Britain's Heritage has been informed that the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has decided to call-in the planning application for the Lancaster Canal Corridor. SAVE has been objecting to the plans which threaten to obliterate a vast number of historic buildings located within several conservation areas and which would destroy Lancaster's charm and historic plan. SAVE had been working alongside the local campaign group Its Our City who are also pleased with the news.
The Planning Inspectorate in Bristol will now be asked to arrange a public inquiry into the matter.
